Kay so, I got it about two weeks ago and finished it yesterday. I've gotta say, for as much as I anticipated this game(I was all excited that it had Chris in it), it was somewhat of a letdown. I can't put my finger on it, but there was something that RE4 had that RE5 didn't. RE4 had a sense of despair and desperation throughout, beautiful stages like Ramon Salazar's castle and the spanish villiage,the intrigue of Ada's appearances, the ever-charming merchant(NOT ENOUGH CASH),the unraveling of the Las Plagas and the underlying evils of the Los Illuminados...Oh, and the horror, I will never forget it. The Regenerators, the grotesque creatures...I could go on. Though Resident Evil 5 had pretty visuals, it just seemed dull in terms of gameplay and plot. It was easy to catch on to, none of the puzzles ever actually made me stop and think. And the whole plot with Wesker rising above Umbrella after the deaths of Birkin, Marcus, and Spencer...it was predictable and lacked anything deeper than comic book villainy. And then when you finally save Jill sandwich, she only makes a tiny little appearance, wtf is that?! It was just like...not good. For being in the Survival Horror genre, it didn't have much of either. It was easy to survive, and wasn't scary at all. Also, The Mercenaries unlockable characters was disappointing. I was happy to have S.T.A.R.S. uniform Chris and Wesker plus Sheva, but there was no Jill, Leon, or HUNK. I, for one, think that the primary downfall of this game is that when it was made, they tried to cater it to the 'hardcore' crowd(curse you, xbox!) and put a lot less emphasis on character development and the complex history of the entire series. The History of Resident Evil files were the only thing in that game that did the series justice. The rest of it just didn't feel like a Resident Evil game at all to me. Just your everyday shooting and splodin'. Thoughts?
